Black History Month Celebration

On Friday, February 20th as OPSEU's Workers of Colour celebrate Black History month.

Guest speakers will be:

Peter Thompson, member of OPSEU's Workers of Colour and Dr. Grace Galabuzi, Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration, and a member of the Yeates School of Graduate Studies, at Ryerson University. He is also a research associate at the Centre for Social Justice in Toronto.

In addition to his academic career, Dr. Galabuzi has also worked in the Ontario government as a senior policy analyst on justice issues, and he is a former provincial coordinator of the Ontario Alliance for Employment Equity.

In 2012, Grace-Edward received an Urban Alliance Award presented by the Urban Alliance on Race Relations to honour efforts to promote anti-racism, inclusion, and diversity.


He has served as a member of the United Way of Toronto Board of Trustees and its Policy, Planning and Research committee, and is a board member of the Atkinson Charitable Foundation, the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. Grace-Edward is also a founding member of the African Music Festival in Toronto.
